Tattoos built with the mindset of a fine artist.

The foundation I work from is academic training in art. Drawing, composition, a sense of proportion: they all translate directly into the quality of a tattoo, especially when the piece is complex. I've built a studio on honest principles, a place where every person who walks through our door is a piece of art in themselves.

What brought Spin Blajin into being?

I gave up job security so I wouldn't give up my standards.

I had worked in other tattoo shops in Brașov before, but the compromises came as part of the package: not enough time per piece, pressure to accept any project, a pace set by someone else. And hygiene, in many shops, was treated as a cost to cut rather than a mandatory condition. Spin Blajin exists because I chose to answer only to myself and to the client, not to a production schedule or to compromises I can't accept.

My roots are in art, not in trends

Each of these artists shaped my eye long before I ever saw a trendy tattoo style. From anatomy and light, to expression and discomfort, everything I see in their work resurfaces, in one form or another, in the way I build a tattoo.

Peter Paul Rubens

Peter Paul Rubens (1577-1640) was a Flemish painter, the central figure of the Northern Baroque, known for his sensual and luminous rendering of flesh, built through layers of warm color and a vivid, lively chiaroscuro. His works teach you to understand movement and volume.

Norman Rockwell

Norman Rockwell (1894-1978) was an American painter and illustrator, famous for his scenes of everyday American life, published for decades on the covers of The Saturday Evening Post. An important aspect that emerges from his work is visual narrative.

Francis Bacon

Francis Bacon (1909-1992) was a British painter of Irish origin, known for his figurative compositions, distorted to the edge of recognition, where flesh and emotion become almost indistinguishable. His portraits seek the brutal truth behind the face, and distortion itself becomes a language.

John Singer Sargent

John Singer Sargent (1856-1925) was an American painter, the foremost portraitist of his era, known for the virtuosity of his brushwork and the elegance of his compositions. Economy of line and precision of form are just two of the lessons you can draw from his work.

Rembrandt Van Rijn

Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669) was a Dutch painter, etcher, and draughtsman of the Baroque period, known for his mastery in rendering light, shadow, and human emotion. His works are the best teacher for understanding chiaroscuro.

Francisco Goya

Francisco Goya (1746-1828) was a Spanish painter and printmaker, considered one of the last great Old Masters and one of the first modern artists. He went from court portraits to nightmares painted directly on the walls of his own house, and the series The Disasters of War remains one of the most brutal visual testimonies of human suffering.

Not everything I draw ends up on skin, and it doesn't need to. This is where the foundational practice lives: studies in anatomy, textures, light and shadow, worked without the rush of a booking or the constraints of a body. It's the art behind the craft, not just the road to it.
